Protecting those Displaced by Mineral Development
Luke Danielson will serve as Co-Chair of a panel on mineral related displacement and resettlement of communities at the annual meeting of the International Network on Displacement and Resettlement (INDR) at INDR’s annual meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia on March 29, 2016. See http://indr.org/
The panel will be a dialogue entitled Practicing Social Scientists and Mining Industry Leaders Discuss Strategies for Sustainability, and focuses on protection of the rights of those displaced by mineral development, and improving practice for conducting resettlement where necessary.
Panelists will include Susanna Price of the Australian National University, Guoging Shi of Hohai University, Pablo Castaños, Vice President of Goldcorp, and Deanna Kemp of the Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining of the University of Queensland.

Luke Danielson spoke on Identifying and Working with Stakeholders at the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation Special Institute on Human Rights Law and the Extractive Industries, in Panama City.
Semester long course, Mining Land Management, began at Western State Colorado University, taught by Luke Danielson.
SDSG team led by Kristi Disney and Laura Barreto finished World Bank project on Improving Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining Practices in the Dominican Republic, sponsored by the World Bank.
