Introduction to the Project Series
The Rare Earth Mineral Paper series includes a global inventory that encompasses operating rare earth element (REE) assets, mine projects that have reported resources or reserves, mine projects that have received significant U.S. government funding, and advanced facilities for processing, cracking, separation, smelting, metallization, alloying, and magnet production. Our Policy Paper covers historical overviews of both Chinese and US rare earth policies and recent leveraging of new funds by the US to support rare earth supply chains, demonstrating persistent, though fragmented, US activity in REE policy. The Primer serves as a broad introduction to REEs that discusses the geology of the minerals and their deposits, explains their supply chains, and reviews major geographies of production and consumption.
